The second largest producer of denim products after China, Bangladesh’s emergence as the preferred destination for denims is beyond questions. According to latest available information, denim products contributed around US $ 6 billion to the country’s US $ 28 billion RMG exports last year. In the first eight months of the current fiscal year (June 2016 to January 2017), Bangladesh’s denim export to the United States rose by 5.84% to touch US $ 299 million, while export to European Union (EU) countries registered an increase by 6.86% to € 568 million, compared to the same period a year ago.
